Arsenal double blow: Wilshere out, M'Villa not in

Injured Arsenal star Jack Wilshere will miss the start of the season, the Mirror (https://bit.ly/NQe868) reported in an exclusive.

He also looks certain to miss the first two games of England’s World Cup qualifying campaign, it said.

The midfielder missed all of last season due to an ankle problem and will now not be fit until the middle of September, according to the report.

Wilshere has been put on a 12-week rehabilitation course after a double op – one to rectify his long-term ankle problem and Arsenal used the chance to sort out a knee tendon injury.

He looks like missing England’s World Cup qualifiers with Moldova on September 7 and the home game against Ukraine four days later.

It will be a double blow for Arsenal who are set to pull out of a proposed move for France midfield star Yann M’Vila, according to another report.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was keen to bring the 22-year-old from Rennes to the Emirates in a £7.5million deal.

But his interest has waned due to M’Vila’s behaviour during Euro 2012.

M’Vila was substituted late in the quarter-final clash with Spain as France chased an equaliser.

On came Olivier Giroud – who has joined Arsenal from Montpellier in a £12m move – and M’Vila was less than impressed.

He refused to shake hands with his replacement – and also ignored France boss Laurent Blanc.
