Arsenal losing Song bigger blow than Van Persie

New Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova knows a thing or two about tactics.

Which is Arsenal need to spend more time warding off Barca’s attempts to sign Alex Song than they need to keep the wolves (or Red Devils) at bay from Robin Van Persie.

Song is one of the unsung heroes of the Emirates and for as many goals that Van Persie has scored, Song has made an equal number of tackles and passes.

Arsenal’s great run-in towards the end of last season was thanks in no small part to Alex Song and Tomas Rosicky.

Barcelona know this and want Song.

Arsenal would, perhaps in the light of the Podolski-Giroud signings, miss Song more than they would Van Persie.

Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta have added their own voices to the growing calls for the Cameroon international to move to the Nou Camp.

Speaking after his team's friendly win over Manchester United, Vilanova said, “I don’t like talking about players who are not in our squad.

“There are many players outside of Barca who I like and I cannot talk about them. It would be a lack of respect to other clubs.”

That’s an old Barca tune they hit just before they go for a Song.

    Song is is the engine room for arsenal, therefore selling him can be a big blow to the gunners.

    Disagree with u, we need a dm sell song and buy someone who will sit In front of the defence and protect them, we have enough midfield quality without the need of song pushing forwards! He leaves us quiet open at times and make a fair few miss passes at dangerous times. But saying this I think he is quality and would be sad to see him go if he does. I just think we need more of a defensive midfielder!

    Tito Vilanova was a nothing player and has little experience of being a manager. Song is a liability and Arsenal's weakest link.

    Should Van Persie, Song or for that matter who leave Arsenal there are other potentials already in / coming in who can do the job IF GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY. Arsenal will still be title contenders in the EPL and CL with the current squad! 1 or 2 critical signings will definite come in to futher bolster the Club! Wenger, in my opinion, has not done with new signings yet!

    Arsenal should not sell song because he is the key of arsenal midfield, go back Barcelona! We like song don't sell him.

    If the reports we have read are true, this same Barcelona still owes us a huge fee for the sale of Cesc Fabrigas and this puts them in a more difficult situation. Their old fashioned way of tapping up our players is also another factor. They must also realize that we want to win, and we have suffered previously when they beat us when they have picked our best players every year. We are serious about winning like they do and we wont be pushed into selling this time especially our Song.
