Robin Van Persie now has a choice. He could join one of two players he formed a formidable strike force with at Arsenal.
He could play again with Samir Nasri at Manchester City, or join Cesc Fabregas at Barcelona.
The Van Persie saga just took another twist with Barcelona and Paris St Germain now ready to jump in to the fray for the sevices of the Dutch hitman.
City are probably still in pole position to sign the striker, but pricing could be an issue, with a section of the British press saying Mancini will not pay more than £20m.
That could open the door for Carlo Ancelotti and his Qatari-backed PSG and a Barca side desperate to win back the La Liga from Real Madrid.
Manchester United and Juventus lurk in the background, but it is the presence of Nasri and Fabregas that could sway Van Persie one way or the other.
Kolo Toure, one of four ex-Arsenal players at City, has urged Van Persie to join him at City.
Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and Emmanuel Adebayor are all old mates as well.
