Arsenal have set their sights on Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong, according to the Mirror.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has grown tired of his fruitess pursuit of £17 million Yann M'Vila, it said.

Wenger is desperate to fill holes in his midfield after injuries to Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta.

Talks over a big-money move for Rennes star M'Vila have been stalled.

But Wenger is confident of getting Man City to release De Jong, who has been struggling for starts under Roberto Mancini.

However, QPR have also targeted the Dutch midfield strongman.

Hoops boss Mark Hughes is reportedly keen on a reunion with De Jong, having signed him from Hamburg in 2009 during his spell in charge at City, the report added.
