Arsenal to lose Walcott to Liverpool

Rodgers wants to land England winger by selling Carroll

Liverpool are poised to make a move for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott.

New Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to finance a £15 million bid by selling Kop flop Andy Carroll, according to an exclusive in The Sun (http://bit.ly/Nrzw29).

Walcott has one year left to run on his contract and has yet to agree a new deal at the Emirates.

He reportedly earns £65,000 a week and is looking to be brought into line with other England internationals in the Premier League on £100,000 a week.

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is also ready to make an official bid for Walcott, 23, while former Blues chief Carlo Ancelotti is keen to take the player to Paris St Germain.

But Rodgers believes Walcott could become a major star at Anfield.

Liverpool knocked back Newcastle’s offer to take former Toon ace Carroll back on loan.

Kop bosses want a permanent deal to raise money for new signings.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to keep Walcott — especially with Robin van Persie refusing to sign a new deal — but some members of Emirates board would be prepared to cash in now.

I think Theo Walcott might damage Arsenal team seriously if Arsene Wenger held on to him here

just read more comments - liverpool tiki taka system - cant stop laughing, bet barca are quaking in their boots!!

Doubt this is true - there is no good footballing reason to go to liverpool. Plus if reports are true a £25m bid from chelski has been rejected so £15m is not going to come close.

As Stewart Robinson said, Walcott is an athlete that wears football boots, he is not a footballer. Brendan Rodgers is after footballing brains that can adapt and change to the situation. I don't think he is interested in Walcott, and I don't think the board will be too keen to blow more money that needed on another England flop.

liverpool could pay walcot 100 grand a week but why should they, he's simply not worth it, too many players are holding their clubs to ransom instead of getting there heads down and playing football with pride and passion,' 100 grand a week the worlds gone mad'

It's not that Liverpool couldn't pay Sigurdsson 60,000 a week, it's Liverpool wouldn't pay Sigurdsson 60,000 a week. Big difference. Carroll if he is going would be going on loan and we have enough money for Walcott, it's just a matter of if Walcott fits into the Tiki Taka system or not.

liverpool could not pay Sigurdsson 60,000 a week and you think they would be willing to pay Walcott over 100,000 :D
