Arsenal's new signings Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud will not be fit enough to start the new Premier League season for Arsenal, according to The Sun.

The strike duo were left out of Arsenal's tour of Asia having arrived for pre-season training later after Euro 2012.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admitted: “I will have to ease them in.”

Germany’s Podolski, 27, cost £11m from Cologne and Frenchman Giroud, 25, joined from Montpellier for £12.8m.

The news will anger Arsenal fans who are bracing for the departure of their captain Robin van Persie with no new signings in sight.

Wenger has denied speculation Malaga winger Santi Cazorla was on his way to the Emirates.

"At the moment we're are not close to signing anybody," Wenger told reporters in the southern Chinese city a day before his side were due to take on Hong Kong outfit Kitchee.
