Barcelona are aiming to weaken the back Pline of European champions Chelsea by plotting a move for Branislav Ivanovic and David Luiz.
Chelsea will have to fight to keep hold of two of the lynchpins of their defence this summer, according to the Metro (https://bit.ly/NONRoD).
The Spanish club's new boss Tito Vilanova has identified the Stamford Bridge duo as the ideal signings to strengthen his defence, Caught Offside quotes Mundo Deportivo as reporting, it said.
Vilanova was impressed by Chelsea's defensive showing in their Champions League triumph last season.
He believes Barcelona's back line could be tighter.
With Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique suffering injuries in the last two years and Eric Abidal recovering from a liver transplant, the Nou Camp outfit have been forced to field players out of position.
Vilanova, who took over from Pep Guardiola this summer, wants to deploy his key men in their natural positions.
If he is unable to lure either of his targets from west London, other names in the frame for a move to Spain include Mats Hummels and Thiago Silva.
Chelsea brought in Gary Cahill last season and can still rely on John Terry, unless he is lured by Paris Saint Germain.
