Can this Bony talent be Chelsea's new Drogba?

A Chelsea without Didier Drogba is just not scary enough.

Roberto Di Matteo may have all the tactical nous and a Champions League title under his belt – the scalp of Barcelona, no less – but surely even he knows the fear the Drog instilled in the opposition.

Which is why a player like Porto’s Hulk coming could fill the void.

But, the Hulk is proving a difficult deal to nail down.

Blues’ fans will be happy to note, however, that Di Matteo is not going to leave them with just Fernando Torres up front.

According to reports in the British press, another Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony is on the Chelsea shortlist.

Though in the weight and height ratio, Bony comes off a little short (Height:182cm; Weight: 88kg) to the giant Drogba (Height:189cm; Weight: 91kg), the fact that Bony is still 24-years old suggests he might have the scope to grow in to another Big D(r)og.

He currently plays for Vitesse and has scored 20 goals in 36 matches

The Metro reported that Newcastle are also in for the striker who scouts have double-ticked mark “strong” and “finisher” against.

Chelsea have a partnership with Vitesse which puts them in pole position, but the £10 million price tag on Bony's head could be an issue.

Still, as Roman Ambramovich knows, that might be a steal to find a replacement for Didier.
