Famous Brazilian footballer and former Real Madrid player Roberto Carlos paid a surprise visit on Thursday night to Al Wasl Club to meet Diego Maradona and check-up on his health.
Roberto Carlos currently plays for Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala also met all the members of the Al Wasl’s first team.
Carlos was very happy to see Maradona in good health and expressed his delight at seeing him again after a long time. Maradona asked Carlos about the Russian Premier League and told the Brazilian to pass his regards to the Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o who also plays for Anzhi.
Roberto Carlos told Maradona that he and Eto’o would like to arrange a friendly between Al Wasl and Anzhi. The Al Wasl coach did not hesitate to welcome the idea and told Roberto Carlos: “you are welcome at Zabeel anytime.”
Earlier that day, Diego Maradona took charge of the team and led the training session after having been hospitalized and underwent an operation to remove kidney stones while later flying to China for a private function.
Al Wasl have been training all week in preparation for their next Pro-league match part of the 12th round which will be played away from home against Sharjah on Monday.
