Chelsea eye £25m star Schurrle for Drogba

Munich have also made a major move for the Leverkusen star

Chelsea are lining up a mega £25 million bid for German star Andre Schurrle as a replacement for Didier Drogba, according to the Daily Mirror.

Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo is an admirer of the Bundesliga star and has been given the green light to up his offer for the 21-year-old Bayer Leverkusen striker.

Schurrle has been on the radar since a successful season in the Bundesliga followed by some cameos at Euro 2012.

Chelsea will not only test the resolve of the German club but also battle with Bayern Munich for the signature of Schurrle.

Opening offers have been rebuffed but Chelsea supremo will not give up on Schurrle who could add muscle to their attack.

Chelsea have spurred into action after Munich made a major move for Schurrle last week.

Schurrle has the kind of athleticism and power to go with some of the small, skillful recruits Chelsea have made this summer.

    You can't judge a man's ability with his size but i can't see him as Drogba replacement. Never! The only potential replacement is Falcao or Cavani NOT Schurrle

    Dude he is basically a winger cum striker. He is not at all drog's replacement but he is more of anelka. That means backup for torres, as other strikers available are beyond the £35 million. So a good option.

    He's waste for chelsea and never be the replacement for DROGBA.. he's not strong enough to lead the Chelsea's attack.. Please don't bring him even mistakely..
