Since when do Liverpool Football Club take hope from a draw? To Sunderland?

Since Brendan Rodgers took over at Anfield and has shown the Kop that there is a more entertaining way to not win than say Kenny Dalglish’s tough tactics.

Liverpool’s season is now officially in the dumps. The club sits at the bottom of the table, level with QPR on points but only just above third-last from the Rangers on goal difference.

To Rodgers’ credit he pulled no punches after a transfer deadline day fiasco that has left him with one proven striker – Luis Suarez, who bailed them out yesterday.

Rodgers has said the club will have to fight on till January.

Liverpool have Manchester United coming up and after Sir Alex displayed his transfer wares in a 4-0 humbling of Wigan, all the Reds might have come the end of October is the hope to draw.

However, the most exciting 6ft-plus player to emerge since well, Andy Carroll (if you fancy Peter Crouch, yes) Marouane Fellaini is on the block after Everton manager David Moyes admitted the player could be vulnerable if the right offer came along.

The Daily Mail has reported that Chelsea are set to test the waters for Marouane Fellaini with a £30million bid.

Chelsea sit top of the table, and quite clearly, Rodgers’ tiki-taka revolution needs a Route 1 Plan B fallback.

The Belgian is the ideal point man for Rodgers because not only can he head, chest and hold-up the ball, but he can play with the ball at his feet.

As Fabio Borini looks increasingly like another Alberto Aquilani, Rodgers needs to make some moves to assure the Liverpool fans.

“I won't say there's no chance in the next window because everybody is available throughout the world if the offer is right,” Moyes said.

If Fellaini is available he could be the one to give Luis Suarez some real space to score winners.

Liverpool have now gone 11th consecutive games without a league win stretching back to last season.

Hope is fading.
