Chelsea's 'choc ice' Cole puts Rio in ManU freezer

United defender reignites Terry race row with attacks on Twitter

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand could earn the wrath of Sir Alex Ferguson for reigniting the John Terry racism on Twitter.

Sir Alex is known for brooking no nonsense and coming out of a season where United won nothing, Fergie will want all his players focused.

Wayne Rooney, David Beckham and even Eric Cantona can all testify to Sir Alex's football first approach.

Which is why Rio is treading on thin ice. Especially with him out of the England squad as well.

Terry was cleared of a racially aggravated public order offence at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.

But when Terry's team-mate and defence witness Ashley Cole was attacked on Twitter, the alleged victim's brother Rio Ferdinand laughingly reacted, according to the Daily Mail.

Cole, 31, had told the trial that Terry, his Stamford Bridge captain and friend, was not racist.

Cole, who also told the court he was a long-standing friend of the Ferdinand brothers, was accused by one person who sent a tweet to Rio Ferdinand of being a "choc ice".

The term is commonly understood to mean 'black on the outside, white on the inside'.

The person wrote: "Looks like Ashley Cole's going to be their choc ice.

"Then again he's always been a sell out.

"Shame on him."

Manchester United defender Rio replied: "I hear you fella!

"Choc ice is classic! hahahahahahha!!"

Rio’s tweet was subsequently deleted from his page.

The attacks on fellow players by innuendo on social networking sites could worry Ferguson who is focussed on regaining the league title.

Ferdinand was controversially left out of the England squad by manager Roy Hodgson for the European Championship, while Terry played in all the matches.

During Terry’s trial Ferdinand provocatively tweeted his film of the day, was Liar, Liar, according to the Mirror.

The following day he went on to the social network site to say it was Steve Coogan’s Cock and Bull story.

The FA also said it had “no comment to make” when told about Ferdinand’s tweets but may feel it needs to investigate further.

But it remains to be seen whether Ferguson will crack the whip and rein in Ferdinand.

With Nemanja Vidic back and Johny Evans and Chris Smalling blossoming, Ferdinand's days at United may be numbered.
