Etisalat, UAE Football Association sign deal

Etisalat, one of the leading telecoms operators in the Middle East and Africa, on Thursday signed a new partnership with the UAE Football Association (UAE FA). Under the new agreement, the telecom major will become the official partner for the UAE FA and the official sponsor of both the UAE national team and the President’s Cup competition for the next three years.

The agreement was signed by Yousuf Mohammad Abdullah, Secretary General, UAE FA and Ahmed Al Hashmi, SVP, Brand & Communication, Etisalat UAE at a special ceremony. Mehdi Ali, the manager of the UAE national team and members of the media were also present at the ceremony.

Ahmad Al Hashmi, SVP, Brand & Communication, Etisalat UAE said: “Etisalat believes it has a national role to play through supporting sports and the youth of UAE. We are an integral part of the UAE and as a national corporation we actively participate in a wide variety of national activities. Etisalat is proud to be supporting both the national team and the President’s Cup competition. We are committed to developing the UAE’s sports sector because of its importance to the nation’s youth and because of its positive effects on society.”

Yousuf Mohammad Abdullah, Secretary General, UAE FA said: “Etisalat is one of the most important national companies in UAE and it has always made a huge contribution towards supporting sports and football in particular. The primary beneficiaries of this partnership will be our national team, local competitions and Emirati youth. We hope this partnership will enhance the level of participation in football in the country as well as the performance of the national team. On this occasion, we call on other national institutions to follow in Etisalat’s footsteps in supporting national sports.”
