Pele, one of the greatest ever footballers and Emirates’ Global Ambassador, will share some of his proudest moments during a special screening at Emirates’ headquarters on  March 16.

Pele will visit the airline’s headquarters in Dubai with the Emirates-sponsored New York Cosmos football team, of which Pele is Honorary President.

The screening will see the football legend personally talk through 10 of his greatest moments with Brazil, Santos and the New York Cosmos, providing a once in a lifetime experience for an invited audience.

"This will be the first event of its kind in Dubai with such a global footballing icon.

“Emirates is about connecting people and passions and this is a unique example, said Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice-President, Commercial Operations, Centre.

"To have Pele personally talking through these historic video clips will provide a beautiful moment in the beautiful game for those present, and for the millions of passengers who will be able to see the programme on our award-winning ice entertainment system."

Win the ‘Ultimate Pele Experience’

This week, Emirates will launch a competition to win the ‘Ultimate Pele Experience’ on its Facebook page to mark the football legend’s visit.

The New York Cosmos team, which once included Pele, is currently in Dubai for a two week training visit.

The team will play a number of games in the UAE, including a match against Al Wasl on Tuesday 11 March at Al Wasl’s Zabeel Stadium.

Pele first visited Dubai in 1973, appearing for Santos in a match against Al Nasr.

In January, he returned to Dubai to be announced as a Global Ambassador for Emirates, an Official FIFA Worldwide Partner.

Pele was just 17 when he won his first World Cup with Brazil in 1958 and went on to play in the winning teams in 1962 and 1970.

The airline will help to bring thousands of football fans to Pele’s home country of Brazil for this year’s FIFA World Cup , offering daily flights to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. On board, passengers can enjoy a dedicated FIFA channel as part of a 1,700 channel offering on the award-winning ‘ice’ entertainment system.
