Liverpool battle Arsenal and Spurs for Lloris

Lyon have put Premier League clubs Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal on red alert by confirming goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is available for transfer, according to reports in the British press.

France's No.1 goalkeeper is rated at around £15 million and played in all matches at the European Championships.

Lloris is understood to be happy at Lyon, although a Mirror report said club chairman Jean-Michael Aulas revealed, before the 2012 Euros, Lloris told him he could move if a "great European club" came calling.

Aulas has opened the door for the 25-year-old to leave France for North London by saying:"Lloris can go, but only for a decent price in relation to the market."

The French captain would provide stiff competition for 41-year-old Brad Friedel at White Hart Lane and also Poland's Wojciech Szczesny at Arsenal.

Lloris played a key part in helping Lyon win the French Cup last season.

Liverpool could beat Spurs and Arsenal to the post in the race to sign Lloris since Pepe Reina is being sought by Italian club AC Milan. Coach Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly unhappy with the San Siro first choice Christian Abbiati who turns 35 this summer.

The Anfield club has four goal keepers (according to the official Web site) - Reina, Australian Brad Jones, Italian Alexander Doni and Hungarian Peter Gulasci. Should Reina leave, new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will be forced to dip into the transfer market and spend big money on signing a new first choice keeper.

Incidentally, Manchester United were reported to be interested in the Frenchman back in early 2011, when they were searching for a long-term replacement for the outgoing Dutchman Edwin van der Saar. Lloris admitted he was "flattered" by the links, though nothing came of it and Sir Alex Ferguson eventually signed Atletico Madrid's David De Gea.
