Liverpool's Sahin in January window for Man Utd

Nuri Sahin

Arsenal and Manchester United will be on alert after Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers came out with a sensational statement: he does not know if Liverpool will be able to keep Nurin Sahin.

The Turkey international is on loan from Real Madrid and has three goals in his last two games.

Sahin was expected to join Arsenal after he was spotted in London, yet in an amazing swoop Rodgers signed him on for Liverpool.

Now the Anfield tiki-taka revolution may not be able to keep him, though the Kop will be hoping the clubs owners will show some real intent by coughing up some top money for a top player.

For the moment then, like Raheem Sterling, Sahin is on the Liverpool window display, unless the club can get high enough up the table to convince him to stay.

Manchester City are never far behind interest in a class midfielder either.

Rodgers was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying, “I don't look beyond the loan period because there are lots of things which will determine whether he ever came here (permanently),” said the Reds boss.

“One has to be availability. Two, he might not be affordable. Affordability is important as well.”

Manchester United seem desperately thin in midfield and Sahin is just the kind of player to fill in the creative gap in midfield that has cost United six points already this season.
