When Manchester City come courting a player, the mone on hand is usually obscene. Enough to turn even the most loyal of players in to suitable suitors.

Which is why Tottenham Hotspur need to be worried.

Forty million pounds is what City will offer for Gareth Bale.

The British press were rife with reports yesterday that Roberto Mancini and Manchester City are ready to make a raid on Tottenham for Bale.

According to some speculation, the transfer could potentially see Emmanuel Adebayor and another star swap the Etihad for Tottenham Super-rich City will try to make the move happen by offering the Welsh wonder three times his wages, which would put him on over £100,000-a-week.

Bale may be tempted to make the move after dropping heavy hints that he will review his future this summer.

He said in a recent interview, “If we don’t [qualify for the Champions League], I have to discuss what’s best for myself.”

Bale has been heavily linked with a move abroad, with Barcelona in the frame.

City may also offer another player in the deal if Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and his chairman Daniel Levy do want to play ball, with Nigel De Jong and Adam Johnson both potentially on the list of candidates.

City's title hopes rest on stopping in-form Cisse

Manchester City's hopes of beating great rival Manchester United to the Premier League title could hinge on suppressing a striker whose blistering run of goalscoring form has left Newcastle on the brink of Champions League qualification.

Papiss Demba Cisse has been tearing defenses apart since his transfer in January, with two stunning strikes in Wednesday's 2-0 win at Chelsea taking his tally to 13 goals from 12 games.

If City can keep Cisse quiet and follow up its crucial victory over United on Monday with a win at St. James' Park on Sunday, Roberto Mancini's side will likely go on to claim a first title since 1968.

With two matches remaining, City is ahead of United on goal difference, while Newcastle is level on points with fourth-place Tottenham.

Loss effect? Man Utd to lose Hazard to City

Manchester United are going to feel the impact of their loss to Manchester City in pretty stark terms.

As former United captain Roy Keane said on TV ahead of the Monday night derby – in football momentum is everything.

That is also why United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been so dug-in-the-trenches about the title going to City.

When he first lost it to a newcomer, Jose Mourinho  and Chelsea, it took him two years to get it back.

However, what will worry United supporters is that players may not be keen to come to United.

At least not if City is still an option.

Eden Hazard was at the Etihad on Monday to watch Manchester City beat United.

The 21-year-old winger is the most sought-after player in Europe.

Hazard will quit French club Lille after this season and both Manchester want him.

City manager Roberto Mancini has said in no uncertain terms that they are prepared to outbid any club for Hazard.

Mancini's United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson has also confirmed in the last few days that he has an interest in the player.

The Mirror reported that City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak was aware of Hazard’s trip to Eastlands on Monday night, although it is unclear whether there was any contact between the two.

"My objective is to go to the Premier League, because I have had my time in France," Hazard said.

Arsenal and Tottenham are also in the hunt for his services.
