Manchester City have resigned themselves to losing Arsenal hitman Robin van Persie paving the way for clear exit route to Old Trafford.
Robert Mancini has virtually given up his pursuit of Van Persie who has refused to sign a new contract at Arsenal.
Mancini said: “Van Persie? No, I don’t think he will come here.”
The Manchester City boss wants the Arsenal skipper, 29 today (Sunday), before the transfer window shuts at the end of this month.
But Manchester United and Italian giants Juventus are also on the trail of the £30 million-rated striker but Sir Alex Fergusion would fancy his chances of landing the Dutch international after City .
City are struggling to shift the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz to make funds available to buy RVP.
The City boss is eyeing Roma’s Daniele de Rossi and Daniel Agger of Liverpool as well as Van Persie.
But the Italian also said Edin Dzeko would probably now stay at the Etihad.
The Bosnian has been grumbled about his lack of matches but Mancini said: “It’s pretty unlikely he will leave.
“He is right to say it’s no fun being on the bench but when you join a big club then competition is normal.”
Dzeko scored twice as City crushed Irish outfit Limerick 4-0 in a pre-season friendly on Friday.
