Manchester United have lined up a £15 million deal for PSV Eindhoven’s Kevin Strootman who has been dubbed 'the new Roy Keane', according to a Daily Mirror exclusive.

The 22 year-old midfielder has earned rave reviews for club and country, having appeared in 10 of Holland's last 11 games.

Strootman is captain of PSV and has kept Manchester City’s enforcer Nigel de Jong out of the Dutch team.

With United boss Sir Alex Ferguson reviewing his summer transfer targets, the Dutchman has been high on the list of targets.

United scouts have reportedly checked out Strootman 12 times in recent weeks.

Ferguson has done some spectacular business with PSV in the past, including Ruud van Nistelrooy and Jaap Stam.

Strootman is regarded as a player with a winning mentality like United’s former skipper Keane and his Dutch team mate Mark van Bommel.
