Man Utd looking at early Vidic return

There is some good news for Manchester United, after all.

A report in the Daily Mail  (https://bit.ly/zfsGxz) states that Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a knee injury and could even be ready to play by the end of the season.

That would be a huge boost to Sir Alex and Old Trafford as they run in to the final lap of the season chasing Manchester City down from taking the title away from them.

Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia faces a month on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in Thursday's 2-0 Europa League win against Ajax Amsterdam.

Vidic had surgery on his right cruciate ligament after suffering the injury in United's Champions League defeat at Basle in early December, and it was originally feared he could be out for as long as 12 months.

However, now according to the Mail, the former Serbia centre half is making rapid progress as he works on his fitness and is putting significant weight back on his knee during his rehabilitation sessions.

Sir Alex was quoted as saying, "It's a blow to lose Valencia, but bit by bit, we are getting stronger with Nani and Ashley Young coming back.

"Tom Cleverley has played a bit of football tonight and Phil Jones has played a full game which is good for us. Chris Smalling was on the bench but will play in the return match at Old Trafford next Thursday."
