Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have been put on alert after Christian Eriksen rebuffed Ajax's offers of a new contract, according to The Metro.

Eriksen has been closely monitored by the three Premier League teams, with Spanish giants Barcelona also rumoured to be interested.

The Denmark midfielder's contract is due to expire in 2014 and Ajax could be willing to listen to offers as they would not want him to leave on a free transfer.

Former Arsenal winger and Ajax director Marc Overmars confirmed the Dutch champions were trying to get the 20-year-old to sign a new deal but were finding it difficult.

"We would like Christian to sign a new contract with us, but it's not something he wants," he told Danish media outlet Sporten.

"We will see what happens after this year.

"We speak with him and his agent and we will see what happens after December."

Eriksen recently impressed in Ajax's 3-1 home win and 2-2 away draw against Manchester City in the Champions League.

On his contract stance, Eriksen, said: "I am under contract and happy at Ajax. I appreciate the fact that they want to extend my deal, but I also feel that at some point I will want to try something new.

"My agent is in contact with the club and I have not accepted or declined anything yet."
