Manchester United have agreed a £30 million deal for Brazil's Lucas Moura and Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to splash another £20m on Robin van Persie, according to the Daily Mail.

Moura is expected to undergo a medical in Manchester after travelling down from Newcastle for Brazil's Olympic Games quarter-final against Honduras at St James' Park on Saturday, where he started on the bench.

Ferguson stayed behind to finalise the Moura business when the team left for Norway for the match against Valerenga.

He will also be on hand to press ahead with Van Persie's move despite other reports that the Dutch international has had a change of heart about leaving Arsenal.

Ferguson is optimistic that any further hitches will be overcome for the Holland striker to become a United player before the season's curtain-raiser in a fortnight.

The United boss will have to compromise on his refusal to comply with the Gunners' £25m demand, with the final figure likely to be about the £20m mark.

But the Arsenal hitman, who has been courted by Manchester City and Inter Milan, has been included in the squad's pre-season preparation in Germany increasing speculation that he may even sign a new contract at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger ordered van Persie to stay at home and miss Arsenal’s tour of the Far East.

But, significantly, the Dutchman, who is 29 on Monday, will be part of the Arsenal party that heads to Germany on his birthday, according to the Daily Mirror.

The summer signings of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, as well as the imminent arrival of Spain international Santiago Cazorla, in a £9m deal from Malaga, have impressed the captain.

There is also the prospect of Holland team-mate Gregory van der Wiel arriving for £7, the report added.

Van Persie is believed to prefer a move to Old Trafford but accepts if the clubs can’t settle on a fee he would rather concentrate on rebuilding his Arsenal career.

So Van Persie now looks certain to start the season as an Arsenal player and if the season goes as he hopes, he will re-assess his long-term position by January, the Mirror added.
