Mexico's historic win over Brazil to clinch the gold medal in London 2012 Olympic Games may have come as a blessing in disguise for Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United's bid to sign Brazil superstar Lucas Moura had run into hurdles on several fronts after cash-rich French club Paris Saint German joined the race to land Sao Paolo’s £30 million-rated starlet.

United were happy to pay Moura's club £25m for the midfielder but were unwilling to cough up a sum of £6m in fees as demanded by the player's agent Wagner Ribeiro.

However, Mexico's shock win over an underachieving Brazilian side in which Moura rarely played has changed the equation with the emergence of one Oribe Peralta.

Mexico two-goal hero has declared his desire to follow Manchester United star Javier Hernandez into English football after sealing his country's Olympic triumph, according to the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old Santos Laguna striker Peralta showcased his immeasurable talent to put himself in the shop window ahead of the Barclays Premier League season.

Admitting being at Wembley made his career-defining moment even more special, he said: "Yes, of course I'd love to come and play here. It would be a challenge and it would be really great for me."

Hernandez is one of few Mexicans to make a real impression in the Premier League and Peralta said: "He's an inspiration to us, scoring goals.

"We have to train to be like him. He scores many important goals for Manchester United. This makes us happy and it's something we aspire to."

United's consternation at missing out on Moura could be offset by hiring the new Mexican hitman.
