Nasri to Arsenal on why Van Persie will leave: You're only good for 3rd

Brands his former teammates 'mercenaries'

Samir Nasri has taunted his former club Arsenal for their failure to win a trophy since 2005, according to a report in the Mirror.

The midfielder left Emirates in acrimonious circumstances last summer  with many questioning his £24 million move to Manchester City.

Nasri claimed his Premier League title triumph with City had vindicated his decision.

"People at Arsenal tried to make out that I came here for the money," said Nasri.

"I hope they are watching me now collecting my Premier League winner's medal. I believe they have not won a trophy for many seasons now."

He not only ridiculed the Gunners for failing to win any silverware, he claimed that Arsenal fans should be content with their third-place finish.

The French international also branded many of the London club's current players mercenaries with no desire to win trophies.

He said: "If all that I was interested in was money, the easiest decision would have been to stay at Arsenal, picking up my money every week and walking into the team - there are many people doing this right now at Arsenal.

"I made the hard choice to come and fight for my place at a big club, where they never settle for second best, and I have proved it correct."

Nasri also wanted to bury the hatchet with the Gunners faithful whom he termed "disrespectful".

He said: "I now hope the Arsenal fans can get on with their lives and forget me.

"They should celebrate their third-place achievement and I will focus on winning titles."

Van Persie poised for Arsenal talks

Arsenal are preparing to smash their current wage structure as they prepare to hold contract talks with captain Robin van Persie, it was reported on Tuesday.

The Gunners' sealed a rollercoaster season on Sunday by clinching a third place finish that gives them automatic qualification for next season's Champions League group stage.

Now the north London giants have turned their attention to the key issue of trying to persuade Dutch striker van Persie to extend his stay at the Emirates beyond his current deal which expires in 2013.

A clutch of clubs are keen to secure van Persie, with newly crowned champions Manchester City able to offer the 28-year-old financial terms that would easily eclipse anything tabled by Arsenal.

However the Daily Mail reported Tuesday that van Persie, currently earning around £70,000 (112,000 dollars) per week, would be offered a three-year deal worth a weekly salary of £130,000 plus a signing bonus of £5 million.

The Mail reported that van Persie will meet Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and club chief executive Ivan Gazidis on Wednesday to discuss his future.

Meanwhile van Persie, who is reportedly keen to stay in London, has praised the spirit shown by Arsenal to finish third after a season which featured a series of low points, including an 8-2 thrashing by Manchester United and an abject 4-0 drubbing by AC Milan in the Champions League.

"It was double important to finish third and also above Spurs. We knew what was at stake," van Persie said.

"We are definitely in the Champions League again, and that was the main target from the match.

"It is incredible. We had to dig deep and come back on a couple of occasions where we were having a hard time," the Dutchman said.

"At the start of the season, we had a very difficult period, but we bounced back very well from that."

You're a bench warmer now, Hazard is going to City; you will find yourself at the bottom of the food chain on loan from one club to the other until the end of your contract where you will find your name at the top of the free agency list because no one will want you because you are a loyal as a bag of potatoes.

Nasri- so what did your team do in champions league this year? :-)

Shortsighted fool! Nazri needs to grow up. Lacking gratitude for a club that gave you wings will destroy you...If you had even the smallish brain, you would know that you DO NOT BURN YOUR BRIDGES!!

Mr Nasri, u went to city for money; u learned to play football from Arsenal. U won the league b'coz others played well; u are ZERO 0. Good luck

Nasri, Tevez etc etc!!! Mercenaries all. It is a good job city won the EPL this year, because in 2 years time their benefactor will not be able to 'BUY' the league as he this this year. Look at City, a team full of mercenaries who all have massive gobs, but no heart.

He has the mouth to accuse us of failing to win a trophy for the past 7 yrs. Forgetting that he was part of the failure. I have a feeling that what is saying will haunt him later. I pray someone like Frimpong will break his leg beyond repair. This is why Gallas hated him badly, because he lacks both self respect and manners.

I don't like Nasri's comments. I remember how I really wanted Man U to win the EPL, all because of Nasri's big bad mouth. when you were at Arsenal we finished fourth, what have you contributed to the success of the team? now you have the guts to talk nonsense. just keep quiet and move on with your life. if it wasn't for Wenger, you wouldn't have been noticed by City.

Define ingratitude!! Like SAF said, Man Utd is far apart from Man City, so is a huge gulf between Arsenal and badmouthed Nasri's Man City. One swallow does not hearald a summer. Lots are used to ignoring this twit but what an incredible ingrate. Can't this twit get on with his life?

Nasri just keep quite and concetrate your football at City, becoz you will be ashamed if you will continue critisizing the gooners remember once a gunner always a gunner.

Nasri has spoken well but remember only the empty drums that make noise the one with water can never make stupid noise. You are not a mature player, you will soon regret of your actions when time come.
  • Saqib 16 May 2012 11:02 1 2
I agree with Samir to an extent that he won the trophy and we won nothing and we are below him in the table, but we as a club could respond to it by buying just a couple of players and winning the title next year or we can do the same build for the future and later when we are almost there then wait for a couple of players to pull a nasri on us
  • Stephen.T 16 May 2012 10:53 7 1
Nasri u disappoint me bcos i don't think u can say that,u are a disgrace to us,.
  • jeronemobrand 16 May 2012 10:51 6 1
Nasri as i can see u are looking like someone who've never won any tittle.be cool like your teamates who contributed to the victory likes of mario n aguero, infact u did nothing in that game u better shut up.
  • ikemefuna Okeke 16 May 2012 10:45 4 0
Nasri if you didn't leave for the money can you please tell us how much you earn in Arsenal and now Manchester city??
  • edsel 16 May 2012 10:15 2 12
Nasri you are very right to leave to,now your decision you have won trophies, while l still don't see Arsenal buying any more player when RVP sings, they should allow any one who wants to win trophies to leave,Arsenal will not buy top class players.
  • Aliyu 16 May 2012 10:04 7 1
Let d loud mouth blow his worst there till he borst! But one thing that is for sure is that,Nasri is living in a fools paradise cause he left for cash at d xpense of his game.Very soon,I believe,he'll be joining d likes of Adebayo and Kolo Taure who have left for d same reasons only for them to have ended without a club to call their own.I dont envy the guy.I only symphatise with him.
