PSG line up shock bid for Chelsea's Terry

French club Paris St Germain are set to make a shock £8 million move to lure Chelsea skipper John Terry from Stamford Bridge, according to the Mirror.

Former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti believes Terry is the ideal man to become his defensive rock ahead of a Champions League campaign for the Ligue 1 side.

Ancelotti was frustrated last month when a £45m move for AC Milan's Thiago Silva fell through at the last minute.

And with Terry's reputation going on the line when he appears in court next week to face charges of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand, Ancelotti could give both the centre-half and Chelsea a way out of a difficult situation.

Despite the controversy over his selection for England's Euro 2012 squad, Terry enhanced his standing with four terrific displays for Roy Hodgson's side.

Napoli's Argentine striker Ezequiel Lavezzi is also expected to join in the next two days for around £21m.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea are prepared to let the skipper go.

Chelsea sold Brazilian Alex to PSG in January while another former Blues man, Claude Makelele, is part of Ancelotti's coaching staff along with Paul Clement, who has known Terry for more than a decade.

PSG sporting director Leonardo said: "John Terry is very close to Ancelotti. But that is all.”

The Qatari-backed side are pressing for the deal to come off as they can match Terry's current £160,000 per week deal at Stamford Bridge.
