Real Madrid will make a move for Manchester City and Chelsea target Luka Modric after they offload Kaka, according to a report.

The La Liga champions want to land the Tottenham midfield star for £25 million, The Sun reported.

It is around £7.5m less than Spurs valuation their prize asset.

But Real could sweeten the deal by offering Lassana Diarra in part-exchange, the report added.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy blocked a £40m bid for Modric from Chelsea last summer.

Modric has expressed his desire to leave White Hart Lane and newly crowned Premier League champions City have also shown interest in him.

French midfielder Diarra played for Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth before moving to the Bernabeu three years ago.

But the Croatian, 26, has yet to sign a new contract at White Hart Lane and says he will decide his future after the Euro 2012 finals.
