Ronaldinho heading to Blackburn Rovers via Pune?

Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho is considering a move to England to keep alive his chances of being selected in Brazil's 2014 World Cup.

Premier League clubs have been put on alert ahead of the January transfer window but speculation was rife that Championship club Blackburn Rovers is ahead of their rivals.

The 32-year old former Barcelona and AC Milan star was spotted with Rovers owners Venkateshwar Rao and Balaji Rao during a promotional visit to Pune, India recently.

"The World Cup means so much to every Brazilian," he said through an interpreter. "I want to be ready and prepared for the event."

His decision to join Brazilian clubs Flemengo and Atletico Mineiro instead of a European Club - after AC Milan in 2010 - also raised questions about his career choices.

But with Luiz Felipe Scolari back as Brazil's manager, a surprise call-up for him in 2014 can't be ruled out.

His last international appearance was in February when Brazil suffered a 2-1 friendly loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina, largely due to the number of young talents rising through the national ranks.

Blackburn are without a coach at the moment after Henning Berg was sacked on Thursday after 57 days in the job.

Berg's record of one win during that period followed Steve Kean's deeply unpopular spell in charge that included relegation to the Championship.
