Wayne Rooney spent his birthday on Sunday in Dubai watching his club Manchester United grind out a 2-1 win over Stoke in his suite at the Burj Al Arab, sipping pink champagne with his wife Coleen.

He and Coleen spent most of yesterday relaxing at the pool bar - laughing and joking as they toasted his birthday.

The football star jetted into Dubai on Saturday's Flight EK18.

Passengers on the flight reported Roo was seen feeding his missus cake and crisps while watching teen flick Rising Stars on the plane.

Forgetting he had headphones on to hear the soundtrack, Wayne shouted: "That girl's brilliant in this" before Coleen told him: "Not so loud."

They then tenderly stroked each other's hands as Coleen looked to have forgiven her hubby's three-in-a-bed hookers shame.

The pair then tucked into tomato soup and seared duck breast and sipped white wine.

Wayne Rooney quit Britain last night for Dubai, cancelling his £90,000 birthday bash, The Daily Mail tabloid reported.

The Manchester United star fled with his wife Coleen, 24, for a five-day break yesterday, leaving their one-year-old son Kai with her parents.

Rooney, who was exposed last month for allegedly having a threesome with prostitute Jenni Thompson and another girl while Coleen was pregnant, is seemingly take a leaf out of his fellow England star John Terry's book.

Terry also stayed at the plush hotel to repair his marriage witbh wife Toni earlier this year following allegations about his affair with Vanessa Perroncel.

Rooney, who agreed to a shock £250,000-a-week deal to stay at United this week, had planned to hold a champagne party in a marquee which had been erected in the garden of his luxury £4m Cheshire mansion.

The sports star is said to have decided to ditch his birthday plans at the last minute, having had a week from hell and wanting to get away from it all, according to the News of the World.

He had invited 100 guests to the party and ordered a mountain of food and drink.

A source told the newspaper: 'Everyone was really looking forward to it.

'You can imagine the disappointment when when Coleen phoned round to say it was all cancelled.'
The party was due to be held today after Man Utd's match against Stoke.

Guests were set to be treated to a Chinese banquet with dim sum, crispy pancakes and sweet and sour dishes.
