Sir Alex reveals secret behind Man Utd’s 20th title

Sir Alex Ferguson is known for his take-no-prisoners style of management.

The famous hair-dryer treatment has more than once done the job for the Scottish manager of Manchester United.

This Premier League title chase, however, has been different.

Sir Alex has used a gold bonding trip to spur the Red Devils towards a record 20th title.

Fergie believes the visit to the famous Scottish golfing venue last month helped swing the battle with Manchester City in their favour.

He said: “The little trip we had to St Andrews was fantastic.

“I didn’t play and I’m glad because there are some bandits at our club.

“There’s no chance you can win. The players loved it.

“It helped with the unity of the players — it was a good moment for us. It makes you realise when players stay together, they become a team very easily.”

Rio Ferdinand, 33, said, “You think it could be your last one or two titles.

“It would not be good finishing not winning something.”

Midfielder Michael Carrick said: “It doesn’t matter what we have done against them in the past. What’s important is what we do tonight.”
