John Ruddy may be fancing a move to Liverpool after a chance encounter with England captain Steven Gerrard at a Dubai hotel.

The Norwich keeper, one of two uncapped players in Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad, was pleasantly surprised to bump into the Liverpool star.

The Sun (https://bit.ly/MdcjBl) reported in an exclusive report that Ruddy says Stevie G congratulated him on the England call-up.

“Stevie was nice enough to come up and congratulate me. I was setting up a sunbed and did not initially see him.

“He came up behind me and said ‘congratulations’ and shook my hand. It was really nice of him. He was there with his missus. I was really grateful for that," the Sun's report said, adding that Ruddy, 25, jetted off to the Middle East with his fiancée Laura after being named in England’s Euro 2012 line-up.

However, speculation is now rife that with Liverpool's current goalkeeper Pepe Reina's performance under fire, Gerrard may well have tapped up Ruddy for Anfield.

The Norwich keeper is one of the unsung stars of the Premier League season and played a massive part in Norwich's fine showing and keeping them well away from the relegation battle.

Reina does not have the unequivocal support of all at Liverpool and may be part of n ensuing clear-up, depending on who the new manager is.

Which means a fine Ruddy showing at the Euros could pave the way for a Liverpool opening.
