UAE leaders congratulate Qatar Emir

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has congratulated Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani after his country won the bid to host World Cup in 2022.

In a telephone call made this evening, Sheikh Khalifa told the Sheikh Hamad that the Qatari achievement was "a source of pride to all of us."

He expressed his confidence in Qatar's ability to host the world's most prominent sporting event.

Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum made a telephone to Sheikh Hamad and described Qatar's successful bidding for the 2022 World Cup as a "a win to all Arab countries and to the Arab and Middle Eastern sport in general."

Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates sent cables of greetings to Emir of Qatar on the selection of Qatar as host of the 2022 World Cup.

The cables were sent by the Rulers His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah and His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi of Fujairah.

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces has sent a congratulatory cable to Emir of Qatar on Qatar's selection.

Sheikh Mohammed said in the cable that the selection reflected world confidence in Qatar's capabilities in organising major international events.

He sent a similar cable to Qatar Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, made this evening a telephone call to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Crown Prince of Qatar and congratulated him on the selection of Qatar as host of the World Cup in 2022.

Sheikh Hamdan wished Qatar success in organising this prestigious event.
