UAE won the first OSN Cup semifinal against Trinidad & Tobago after a penalty shoot-out to secure a place in the finals.

Organised by OSN, the region’s leading pay-TV network and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) at the King Fahd International Stadium, Riyadh, UAE won 7-6 to break a 3-3 deadlock.

Star players from the UAE team included captain Ali Khaseif, Omar Abdul Rahman, Ahmed Khalil, and Ismail Mattar, bringing them one step closer to winning the OSN Cup.

UAE will go on to play the winner of the second semifinal match (Saudi Aravia vs New Zealand) in what should be a thrilling OSN Cup final on Monday September 9.

Trinidad & Tobago will go head-to-head against the runner up of the second semifinal battling it out for third place.

Mahdi Ali Hassan Redha, Head Coach of the UAE National football team, said: “We expected the match versus Trinidad & Tobago to be a difficult one - the team could have scored over three goals. The team performed very well during the first half. However, the substitution in the second half of the game, impacted the players’ overall performance.”

OSN Cup underlines OSN’s efforts to unite fans across the Middle East and the world, through their love for football. OSN Cup, set to become an annual OSN initiative, is part of the network’s wider plans to roll out several new activities across the Arab world that promote youth engagement and bring the family together for premium entertainment experiences.
