Robin van Persie is facing a race against time to be fit for Manchester United's visit to Norwich on Saturday fter he withdrew from the Holland squad with a thigh injury.
The in-form striker - who has 11 goals already this season - was expected to start up front in Wednesday's friendly clash with Germany in Amsterdam.
Van Persie played the full 90 minutes in Manchester's 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Saturday, setting up Javier Hernandez's 88th-minute winner with an inswinging free kick.
But United are sweating over his fitness with his injury being reminiscent of his days at the Emirates.
The former Arsenal captain had a history of injuries during his eight-year spell there though comparatively he played his first full season to plunder 30 goals in the league last term.
But United must be wonderful whether his Arsenal curse has returned.
The absence of the prolific United striker means Germany-based Klaas Jan Huntelaar will almost certainly begin at centre forward for the Holland.
The Dutch striker has 31 goals in 71 internationals. Huntelaar, who plays at Schalke 04, has 34 goals in 59 matches for the Netherlands.
