Why Modric is bad Luk for Man Utd?

Manchester United face their biggest challenge in the transfer market in the history of Sir Alex Fergsuon’s management of the club.

Not even sagas like David Beckham or Cristiano Ronaldo come close to the frustration that surrounds Old Traffford over the buying of Tottenham Hotspur’s Luka Modric.

Now, Fergie may have a lifeline on the player.

The Croatian star was expected to join Spanish champions Teal Madrid, after Euro 2012, but indications are that the deal is far from done.

Modric has now reportedly given Real a July 17 deadline.

Reports in Spain claim Madrid must sell before they can buy and Modric, 26, is reluctant to demand a move away from White Hart Lane, according to The Sun.

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville no less has spoken about the pressure on the ‘Fergie era;.
Neville told the club's official website: “You can bet they would have had a frustrating summer, after not winning any trophies last season.

“The beauty of football is that you start afresh each year with a clean slate. United now have an opportunity to put things right.

“But, obviously, when you don’t win anything you have an added incentive because people start to question the team and wonder if the empire is crumbling.

“The manager and the players have had to cope with all that before, so this challenge is something they’ll all be looking forward to.”

New manager Andre Villas-Boas will be keen to hold on to Modric but has already made plans to replace him.

Gylfi Sigurdsson snubbed Liverpool to join White Hart Lane and Lassana Diarra is also a target.
