West Indies go Gangnam Style to hit T20 semis

Cricket needs the West Indies like football needs Brazil.

Nobody does style, power, panache and passion better than a West Indian cricketer in full flow.

Remember this quartet: Andy Roberts, Malcolm Marshall, Joel Garner, Michael Holding, not just their devastation with the ball, but their coolness with the high-fives.

Throw in Sir Viv Richards’ swagger to the crease, after Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes had decimated the opposition bowling and did not even often need The Big C or the Super Cat (captain Clive Lloyd) to get going.

Ya maan, that be cricket.

The West Indies ousted NZ in dramatic Super Over to make the World T20 semifinals on Monday.

Then came the slump and the Windies lost not only their ‘fear factor’, but their coolness ratio seemed to crash and burn as well.

For the first time now, the team from the Carribean seem to have the ‘moves’ back.

Led by none other than Chris Gayle and his impression of the ‘Gangnam Style’ craze.

However, Gayle is being backed up by the likes of Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo, who bring a party style all of their own.

The Windies have also been pretty spectacular in the field. Like they say, when a Brazilian plays football, it becomes the ‘beautiful game’.

A the World T20, the West Indies has reminded us, when the Windies win is when the party truly begins.

The West Indies play New Zealand today in their World T20 Super 8 match in Sri Lanka and a win will see them through to the semifinals.

Chris Gayle’s version of the ‘Gangnam Style’ dance moves, by K-Pop superstar PSY, is going to only add to the Gangnam craze.

In fact Gayle's moves are catching on in cricket as well with one or two Sri Lankans attempting the Style.

The song, is meant to be a satire on the excesses of Korean's version of credit card industry, and is now the most-watched video of 2012.

Since being posted on YouTube on July 15, Gangnam Style has 330 million views in less than three months.
