All set for Global Fighting Championship

Golden Cage Events and Promotion is launching its 'Global Fighting Championship 1' featuring some of the top fighters from across the world on Thursday March 7.

The fight card, featuring 11 bouts, will take place at Hall No.8 at the Dubai World Trade Center.

The fight night is expected to present spectators with the excitement and thrill that normally goes along with mixed martial arts.

“All over the world Martial Arts have shown a huge ascendancy on popularity and we feel that this is the best time to cash in on its growing status in Dubai and the region,” said Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif, Secretary General, Dubai Sports Council.

“The Middle East in particular has a vast following in Mixed Martial Arts with many youngsters engaged in training, and we at the Dubai Sports Council have always been encouraging such activities that bring out the best in our youths,” Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif added.

The brain behind Thursday’s Global Fighting Championship 1 is Prince Amir (Amir Shafiy Pour) who has the distinction of handling more than 300 professional sports events all over the globe.

“Our aim is to turn Dubai into the Las Vegas of the Middle East. We have some of the best facilities here and achieving our goal should not be too big a task,” Prince Amir said.

The organisers of the 'Global Fighting Championship 1' are expecting an attendance of more than 2,000 enthusiasts to throng to the Dubai World Trade Center’s Hall No.8.

“And our aim is to ensure an increase of at least 50 per cent by the next event in 2014,” Prince Amir said.

“Fighters from faraway places such as Brazil, Thailand, Philippines, Poland, Uzbekistan, United Kingdom, Greece, Sweden, Russia and France will participate along with champions from Iran, Morocco and the UAE during Thursday’s exciting night of champions,” he added.

Tickets are available at selected ENOC, EPPCO Zoom stations and Virgin Megastores, while Platinum tickets can be purchased on-line.

The 'Global Fighting Championship 1' is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council.
