The celebrity basketball game to be held at American University in Dubai on September 27 as part of the Kobe Bryant Health & Fitness Weekend just got a lot more exciting, both in terms of athletic prowess and coolness.

Kelly Errin Herndon, an American football cornerback who is currently a free agent, will join the celebrity line up being coached by Kobe Bryant.

Herndon is best known for breaking the Super Bowl record for the longest return of an interception when playing for the Seattle Seahawks. He has also played for a number of other NFL teams during his career.

Soulja Boy, whose hit single 'Crank That' ranked number one on the US billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks, has also confirmed that he will be in Dubai this September to play in Kobe Bryant’s team for a celebrity basketball game.

The 23-year old rap artist, who is currently working on his fourth studio album, is no stranger to celebrity basketball games – he was part of the team for a celebrity game in the inaugural BET (Black Entertainment Television) Experience earlier this summer in Los Angeles.

The latest additions to Kobe Bryant’s team, aptly named Team Black Mamba, will increase the clamour for tickets to the game which is being held on September 27 at the American University in Dubai.

Kobe Bryant is coaching the celebrity side, which is pitted against the Real Madrid basketball legends.

The basketball match is part of the Kobe Bryant Health & Fitness Weekend, in support of diabetes awareness, and is presented by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre.

It marks the first time the basketball superstar will be in the Middle East and is the first celebrity game to be hosted in the Emirates.

And Kobe’s fan following, which is legendary and has been referred to by media as the most dedicated in all sports, cannot wait to see him in person.

The basketball player has become a living legend since he started playing. More information on the weekend and Kobe Bryant is available on www.kobefitnessuae.com.

Bryant turned 35 last week and various print and broadcast channels used this as an opportunity to air highlights from his career.

“Happy 35th birthday to Lakers great and 5x champion,” tweeted Magic Johnson while Pau Gasol wrote: “Today is the birthday of one of the greatest ever, my friend and teammate, Kobe Bryant! Happy birthday brother!”

Kobe has not shared with his fans details of how he celebrated his birthday but it capped a week when he posted pictures of himself running on a zero-gravity treadmill on Instagram.

Kobe Bryant is recovering from an Achilles tendon injury but the photographs confirmed what Kobe has publicly posted – that he has “shattered” the recovery time for an injury of this kind.
