Touch rugby enthusiasts across the UAE are advised to dust off their boots and start limbering up for the Zurich Corporate Touch 6s.

This annual tournament, which has grown since its launch in 2011, will take place from 10am on Saturday March 7 at the Jebel Ali Centre of Excellence in Dubai.

Up to 20 corporate teams from companies across the region – either all male or mixed gender – will be competing to take home the title.

For those not planning to make their mark on the rugby pitch, the event is free to enter and promises plenty of family fun, including a dedicated ‘Kids Zone’ sponsored by Killik, according to organisers.

Youngsters will also have their moment of glory as local Under 7s tag rugby clubs will play in their own mini tournament, alongside the main event.

John Larkins, President, UAE Touch, says: “Touch is a fantastic way to bring people from all walks of life together to get fit and have fun. The sport is booming in popularity across the UAE and as a result we’re expecting this year’s tournament to be the biggest yet. For anyone unfamiliar with the sport, this is a great introduction and a really fun day out.”

Touch Rugby is a minimal-contact sport and is suitable for players and teams of all ages, abilities and fitness levels.

It is fun to play and easy to learn and has a rapidly growing profile in the UAE, which has included the recent introduction of dedicated schools programmes.

“There’s never been a better time for companies to sign-up and take part. Touch is completely inclusive and provides a fantastic opportunity to promote healthy, active lifestyles in a way which really brings people together. What’s more, it’s also a chance to enjoy one of the last sports gatherings of the season before it gets too hot,” Larkins added.

UAE Touch will run specialist coaching clinics for teams in the lead up to the tournament, providing all the training, advice and general know-how required to ensure teams are fully-prepared and pitch-ready to go head-to-head on the day.
