Chawla Sindhi Royals embark on UK cricket tour

A 13-member squad of the Chawla Sindhi Royals will embark on a week-long tour of the UK it was announced during a Press Conference at India Club recently.

Team owner Niranjan Chawla had made a commitment after the final of the Sindhi Premier Cricket League Season 2, which was played this year on March 29 and which Chawla won by defeating Petrochem Sindhi Kings, that his team would travel to the UK in the second week of June.

Last week in the presence of Dubai Cricket Council’s (DCC) Honorary Secretary Mohamed Lokhandwala and other members of the DCC and Sindhi Cricket Club, namely Farrukh Siddiqui, Shiva G Pagarani, Gopal Jasapara, Shoeb Muljiani and Paresh Amarnani, the owner of the team kept to his word and declared that the team will depart for England on June 9.

It will be called the Chawla Sindhi Royals UK Tour and will consist three matches of between 30 and 35 overs.

The highlight of the tour will be a trip to The Oval to watch India take on West Indies in the Champions Trophy match on June 11.

Lokhahdwala, speaking on the occasion, said: “On behalf of Dubai Cricket Council I would like to congratulate team owner, Niranjan Chawla and all the players of Chawla Sindhi Royals for embarking on their first-ever cricket trip to the United Kingdom.

“The experience of playing in UK on different types of pitches and in different weather conditions compared to the UAE, will surely augur well for them.

“Tours such as these not only build a player’s confidence but provides exposure which is vital to a players growth,” he added.

There are nine members from the Chawla Sindhi Royals team and four from the Sindhi Cricket Club.
All the matches will start at 1pm UK time.

Tour itinerary:

Sunday June 9: Arrival at Heathrow Airport.

Monday June 10: Evening match against Doctors Xl at Hinckly Town Cricket Ground.

Tuesday June 11: Trip to watch the Champions Trophy match between India and West Indies at The Oval

Wednesday June 12: Match against Leicestershire Over 40s club at Kibworth Cricket Ground.

Thursday, June 13: Match against Langton’s Cricket Club Social Xl at Langton’s Cricket Ground.

Friday June 14: Rest Day.

Saturday June 15: Departure for Dubai.
