Danube Lions and Seven Seas Strikers posted easy victories to book their berth in the semifinals of the Aseel Islamic Finance 26th Sharjah Ramadan Cup 2014 Twenty20 cricket tournament.

The tournament is organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Danube Lions thrashed their counterparts Danube Tigers by nine wickets, while Seven Seas ousted Al Faraa by 48 runs at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first did not really help Danube Tigers who quickly lost three wicket for 28 runs with opener Rana Adnan (19) being the only modest contributor.

A partnership of 72 for the fourth wicket between Vikrant Shetty (40, 31, 2x4, 2x6) and Mohammad Sami (33, 31, 2x4, 1x6) raised hopes for Danube Tigers.

But once the association was broken, Danube Tigers collapsed to 123 for seven in 20 overs.

Danube Lions reached the target in 15.3 overs with Asif Iqbal hammering five sixes and six boundaries in his unbeaten 74 off only 46 deliveries while Andri Berrenger smashed a 38-ball 44 with the help of three boundaries and a six.

In the other quarter-final, Seven Seas piled 157 for seven in 20 overs after opener Hamid Ali (33) gave them a solid start.

In reply, Al Faraa made a disappointing start losing four wickets for just eight runs after veteran Freddy Sidhwa stunned the top order batsmen.

Al Faraa could muster only 109 for nine in 20 overs despite knocks from Imran Maqsood (36) and Kamran Shahzad (38 not out).
