All preparations are in place for the world’s first ever 24-Hour Tennis Marathon to be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai on November 13 and 14.

Sherriff International Sports Management (SISM) and Veracity World, the organisers of the ADIB 24-Hour Tennis Marathon, confirmed that 76 players will compete in this day-night-day event.

The six teams are ADIB, Huawei, Pepsi, Grand Hyatt, Channel 4 and DTA.

All participants can get a chance to play with or against the 2013 Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli.

The ADIB 24-Hour Tennis Marathon also offers the participants a chance to win an all expenses paid trip to London and watch the action at 2016 Wimbledon Championships, which will take place from June 27 to July 10.

The tournament, supported by Dubai Sports Council and presented by Huawei, is a world record attempt with six teams playing for 24 hours, non-stop.

All players participating in the 24-Hour Tennis Marathon, individuals and corporate houses that are booking tables at the Opening Ceremony, Dinner, Family Breakfast and Award Ceremony events will bag a chance of winning the trip to Wimbledon courtesy of Qantas airline.

The event is being supported by corporates and organisations including ADIB, Huawei, Qantas, Pepsi, Ahasees Spa & Club, Grand Hyatt, Tennis Emirates, K-Swiss, Channel 4, Khaleej Times, Arcs & Curves, Watermelon Communications, Prince, Rashid Centre for Disabled and CMS Digital World.

We have received overwhelming response from corporate groups to participate in the event and create history in Dubai,” said Vipin Sharma, managing director of Veracity World.

“This event is aimed at encouraging local talent and also be able to attract more people to take up the sport. This event will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for having more than 72 players playing in a tennis exhibition match. Each team will consist of 12 players inclusive of the captains,” he added.

The action-packed 24 hours will begin with an opening ceremony and gala dinner with Bartoli.

The marathon will begin at 1 pm on November 13 and conclude at 1pm on November 14.

The players will play through the night and it will be a real test of endurance to complete the 24 hour marathon.

The final day of the event will feature a family breakfast as well as free tennis clinics and interactive games for adults and children.
