Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola will be one of the main speakers at the 8th Dubai International Sports Conference to be held on December 28 and 29.

Organised by the Dubai Sports Council under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the annual event attracts some of the top minds involved in the sports industry from across the world with the underlying theme of ‘empowering the future of football’.

The former Barcelona coach is scheduled to be involved in a special panel discussion along with three other top managers, whose names are yet to be confirmed. The four-coach panel discussion will be coordinated by former Italian and England team coach Fabio Capello.

“This session will a unique one in the history of football anywhere in the world wherein a top coach will supervise a discussion involving four other top coaches from across the world,” said Mohammed Al Kamali, Head of the Organising Committee.

“At the Dubai Sports Council it is always our endeavour to bring the best to Dubai so that we can sustain our name as the sporting capital of the Middle East. It is events like these that can help set the tone of professionalism in the UAE and the region,” he added.

Since the first edition in 2006, the Dubai Sports Council has given great importance to this international conference due to the role it plays in the development of sport in Dubai and in the UAE.

In keeping with its objective of bringing together high-profile decision-makers and professionals from the local and international football community, this year’s event will once again seek to discuss contemporary and relevant matters related to professionalism in sports. Besides the array of names from the world of football, the two-day conference will be filled with valuable insights from a plethora of panellists and speakers.

Held in association with Globe Soccer, last year’s conference had high-profile personalities including Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho, UEFA President Michel Platini, FC Barcelona President Alexandre ‘Sandro’ Rosell, Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin and the legendary Argentine footballer, Diego Maradona, who is also the ambassador for the Dubai Sports Council.

Previous conferences have debated topics of interest to the world of football, ranging from ‘professionalism in football’ to the ‘challenges of professionalism’ and the ‘creation of professional sports.’

Like in previous years, the international conference will host an exhibition running alongside the event this time around as well for delegates and industry leaders involved in the ever-growing business of sport.
