Former world champion Lewis Hamilton and title rival Nico Rosberg in a rare show of unity acknowledged the team effort which has resulted in Mercedes dominating the 2014 Formula One World Championship.

"I'm very proud to be part of this moment with the team. It has been the resurrection of the legendary Silver Arrows in Formula One. And we are dominating the sport again like years ago and that's very special," said Rosberg.

"It's been an amazing year. Bringing success to team has been a real privilege. I've been with Mercedes since I was 13 and I'm very grateful for their support," said Hamilton.

The duo were speaking at an exclusive event hosted by Emirates Motor Company (EMC), Mercedes-Benz General Distributor in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain and the flagship company of Al Fahim Group, who welcomed the two Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 drivers along with Executive Team Director Toto Wolff in Abu Dhabi on Thursday evening.

"Yes indeed it was an incredible season. We've had the best package so far. We have the best two drivers out there. They have been pushing the team very hard and they've been developing the car. I think it just came together this year. This is why we are fighting for the world championship," said Wolff.

Hamilton leads Rosberg by 17 points but with double points on offer the season finale is poised for a battle royal between the Mercedes drivers in Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit.

Attending the exclusive gathering from Al Fahim family were Saeed Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, Honorary Chairman of Al Fahim Group, Ahmad Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, Chairman of Al Fahim Management and Mohammed Ali Al Fahim, Al Fahim Management Board Member.

Addressing VIP guests and select media at the exclusive event, Frank Bernthaler, CEO Automotive at Al Fahim Group said: “We are delighted to welcome our Mercedes AMG Formula One team here this evening. As the race season comes to a close, we would like to congratulate our champions and wish them the best of luck this weekend. This has been one of the most exciting F1 seasons, in no small part thanks to the strength, skill and stamina of the Mercedes team.”

Celebrating the racing heritage of Mercedes-Benz, EMC also treated guests to an exclusive preview of the much anticipated new Mercedes-Benz AMG GTS that will be available in the first quarter of 2015.

As part of the special surprise, the car was driven into the showroom by both Formula 1 drivers during the event.

The GTS is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG with a powerful AMG 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine that underscores the signature AMG driving performance.

“Combining the superior qualities of a Mercedes AMG sports car with premium luxury and comfort, the new Mercedes-AMG GTS elevates Mercedes-Benz into a new, top-class sports car segment for the company,” said Kamal Rafih, ‎General Manager of EMC following the reveal of the car.
