Herriot-Watt University’s cricket team managed to book the only spot to represent the UAE at the Red Bull Cricket Campus World Finals in Sri Lanka after edging out Skyline University.

The boys from Herriot-Watt are no strangers to victory, as they had also qualified last year to the World Final, in the inaugural Red Bull Campus Cricket hosted in the UAE.

They will face off once again against varsity teams from cricketing nations Australia, India, South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and England.

Jeff Cook, director of Durham country club who played for England from 1980 to 1985, was present on the occasion.

Winning captain Chirag Suri said: “As a university, it is a huge privilege for us to represent the UAE on a global platform, just like we did last year. We are looking forward to the challenge of competing against other prominent institutions from around the world. This trip is key to the development of the players and how they progress as individuals and cricketers."
