Phoenix Medicine secured an easy six-wicket victory over Dubai Lions to emerge triumphant in the 5th Al Dhaid Ramadan Cup tournament at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Asif Mumtaz claimed three wickets, Hafiz Kaleem smashed a quick 41 and Saqlain Haider provided the final touches with a superb unbeaten 47 as Phoenix Medicine achieved the winning runs with 15 balls to spare.

Put in to bat first, Dubai Lions openers made a promising start sharing a half century stand.

Salman Agha scored a 23-ball 24 with one boundary and Noor ul Haq hit a patient 34 from 44 deliveries containing four fours and a six.

Dubai Lions lost three quick wickets before Afzal Khan fired a 24-ball 30 with a single boundary and a six and Afzal Shah remained unbeaten on 18 from 15 deliveries to ensure they reached a respectable 129 for six in 20 overs.

Mumtaz was the best bowler picking up three wickets from his four overs conceding only 15 runs while Kaleem and Shoaib Laghari claimed a wicket each.

Chasing a relatively easy target, Phoenix Medicine lost an early wicket but that was the only brief joy Dubai Lions could celebrate as Kaleem blasted five sixes and a boundary to score an impressive 31-ball 43.

Adil Mirza scored 14 from 17 deliveries before he was run out.

Haider and Mohammad Qassim shared a match-winning unbroken partnership of 59 runs to guide Phoenix Medicine to 132 for four in 17.3 overs.
