PSL T20: Peshawar Zalmi win Sharjah thriller, Quetta Gladiators top table

Quetta Gladiators went two points clear at the top of the table after coasting to a seven-wicket victory over Islamabad United while Peshawar Zalmi held their nerve in a nail-biting finish to defeat Karach Kings by three runs in a thriller at Sharjah on Thursday.

Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed remained unbeaten on 51 to steer Quetta Gladiators to an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Islamabad United in Match 11 of PSL at Sharjah Cricket Stadiium on Thursday.

After bowling out United for the lowest PSL total of 117, Gladiators coasted home with nearly four overs to spare replying with 118-3.

Sarfraz hammers two consecutive boundaries off Khalid. Gladiators 104-3, 14 overs.

Shehzad rocks back and pulls Russell imperiously for a six over midwicket before perishing attempting a similar shot. Gladiators 73-3, 9.4 overs.

Sarfraz welcomes Ajmal by sweeping to backward square leg for a boundary. Gladiators 54-2, 7 overs.

Sarfraz cuts to third man while Shehzad pulls Irfan for a boundary. Gladiators 46-2, 6 overs.

Shehzad chips Raees over the infield for a boundary to long-on. Gladiators 33-2, 5 overs.

Russell is on a hat-trick after yorking Pietersen who goes too far across and castling his leg stump after getting Wright. Gladiators 14-2, 2.3 overs

New Zealand international Grant Elliott, playing his first match for Gladiators, claimed three crucial wickets.

Babar and Cheema claimed two wickets each.

Zalmi win thriller

West Indies international Darren Sammy bowled a calculated final over as Peshawar Zalmi survived a spectacular Ravi Bopara knock to beat Karachi Kings by three runs in a nail-biting finish in Sharjah on Thursday.

Bopara smashed 67 of 32 balls in an innings that included five fours and four sixes to help revive his team after they slumped to 48-5 in 8.5 overs.

Peshawar Zalmi pulled off a nail-biting three-run win after Ravi Bopara brought Karachi Kings to the brink of victory with a brilliant knock of 67 off 33 balls.

Chasing a target of 183, Kings were on the ropes at 48-5 before Bopara shared partnerships of 61 with Vince (44) and Tanvir (23) as Kings clawed their way back and look in sight of victory after Tait went for 26 in the penultimate over.

Needed 13 off the last over, Bopara hammered a six off the first ball from Sammy before holing out two balls later as Kings finished on 179-9 for nine.

Amir fails to score off the final ball from Sammy as Zalmi win a nail-biter by three runs.

Kings need four off the last ball as Mir is run out by the keeper. Kings 179-9, 19.5 overs.

A flurry of big hits in the end overs Shahid Afridi (17) and Darren Sammy (18) runs helped Peshawar Zalmi put up 182-4 against Karachi Kings in the 10th Pakistan Super League (PSL) match in Sharjah on Thursday.

Zalmi got off to a flying start as openers Mohammad Hafeez and Tamim Iqbal plundered 86 runs in the first ten overs before both were dismissed in quick succession.

Kamran Akmal weighed in with 30 off 20, hitting two huge sixes and as many fours.

Malan perishes as he sends Tanvir soaring into the sky. Zalmi 153-4, 17 overs.

Hafeez has laid into a full toss from Bopara and launched it over midwicket with the ball getting stuck on the edge of the roof.

Tamim swings Shakib to square leg for a boundary while Hafeez slaps him over extra cover for a maximum. Zalmi 62-0, 7 overs.

Hafeez tees off against Shakib by getting inside the line and lofting back over the bowler's head for a maximum followed by a boundary through extra cover, Zalmi 44-0, 5 overs.

Tanvir comes into the attack and Tamim unleashes an exquisite cover drive to the fence. Zalmi 32-0, 4 overs.

Boundary number five for Hafeez who pulls him round to midwicket. Zalmi 25-0, 3 overs.

Hafeez is on song cracking two consecutive boundaries off Wasim. Zalmi 18-0, 2 overs.
