A five-wicket haul by pace bowler Mohammed Rameez and a swashbuckling 90 by wicketkeeper-batsman Swapnil Patil ensured Yogi Group made light work of Multiplex’s total of 178 to win by five wickets in the 2nd Interface Transworld Ramadan Cup 30-over cricket tournament, organised by the Dubai Cricket Council (DCC), at the Fairground Oval at Dubai Men’s College on Wednesday night.

Multiplex, who beat Seven Seas in their inaugural match, once again had to rely on Shahid Khan to pull them out of a rut.

Shahid's half century (51 from 54 balls, 3x4, 2x6) was instrumental in pushing and prodding the Multiplex total to a fighting one.

Multiplex could manage only 178 with Mohammed Rameez bagging five wickets.

Yogi suffered an early blow in their chase with Swapnil Salvi losing his wicket in the first ball to Abdullah Haq. But his namesake Swapnil Patil took the fight to the rival camp and in the company of Salman Faris (30) galloped towards their target.

Brief scores:

Yogi Group beat Multiplex by 5 wickets: Multiplex 178 all out in 29.3 overs (Shahid Khan 51, Zeeshan Khan 28, Fawad Ali 19, Abdullah Haq 16 no; Mohammed Rameez 5-30, Shahzad Manna 3-27, Avadoot Amonkar 2-25) Yogi 181 for 5 in 27.4 overs (Swapnil Patil 90 no, Salman Faris 30, Aniket Desai 23; Mohammed Yasir 2-19). Man of the match: Mohammed Rameez of Yogi.
