Ghulam Shabbir cracked a superb century as Seven Seas Strikers registered another convincing win to overhaul Alubond Tigers by six wickets in a Group C match of the Aseel Islamic Finance 26th Sharjah Ramadan Cup 2014 Twenty20 cricket tournament.

The tournament is organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Chasing an imposing 191 to win at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Seven Seas did not have the best of the starts losing three quick wickets with just 31 runs on board.

But once Shabbir was in the middle the situation changed significantly as Seven Seas were marching comfortably towards victory.

Another two wickets did slow down the progress but with Shabbir showing emphatic form there wasn’t much the Alubond Tigers bowlers could do.

Shabbir consumed only 51 deliveries to smash an unbeaten 105 peppered with six boundaries and eight sixes while he was well supported by Amjad Rasheed who remained till the end to score a 20-ball 39 including four boundaries and two sixes as Seven Seas achieved 191 for four in 17.5 overs.

Earlier, put in to bat first, Alubond Tigers posted 190 for six in 20 overs.

Hassan Raza and Sameen shared a whopping 144-run stand for the second wicket.

While Raza succumbed scoring a fine 43-ball 51 containing four boundaries and one six, Sameen completely ripped apart the bowlers slamming seven boundaries and as many sixes to score a brilliant 101 from just 49 deliveries.
