Spartans trounce Y-Nots to win Aster Super League

Spartans won the final of the Aster Super League held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Organised and managed by Cricon Sports Services, the league stage of the tournament was held at Skyline University Grounds before the final of the action was shifted to Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The inter-department tournament, held under the auspices of Sharjah Cricket Council, consisted of eight teams and played in a league format.

The top four teams then proceeded to the semifinals before it culminated at the Sharjah Stadium for the final.

The 10-over final saw Aster Spartans take on The Y-Nots. Despite some interesting situations, the match turned out to be a one-sided affair as Aster Spartans trounced The Y-Nots by nine wickets to emerge champions.

Nidheesh won the man of the match award for his all round performance while Swaroop of Aster Spartans swept the Man of the Series award.

Shefil of Y-Nots won the Best Bowler award and Swaroop once again of Aster Spartans bagged the Best Batsman award.

Chairman of Aster Dr. Azad Moopen, T.J Wilson - Group Director, Dr. Sayed, Medical Director; Dr. Shamila Laiju, COO Medcare Hospital, Jobilal Vavadhan - CEO  & Asst. Vice President Aster Pharmacy, were present on the occasion.

“It’s great to see the Aster community come in full force and encourage the teams in the final. The event was very well organized and thanks to CricOn for this brilliant work. This tournament is a great opportunity for giving our employees some to enjoy and focus on cricket. The event was fun filled and based on its success we would like to organise it twice every year. It’s still in the planning stage and we will announce our new programmes very soon,” Moopen added.
