UAE is poised to create history by staging a day-night cricket Test between Pakistan and West Indies this year.

West Indies have agreed to play a day-night Test when Pakistan hosts their 'home' series in the UAE in September-October.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan confirmed that the West Indies Cricket Board have agreed to play one of the Test matches under lights, according to a report in Dawn.com.

“I haven’t seen their (WICB) letter as yet but yes apparently they have said yes to playing one day and night test with the pink ball in the UAE,” the PCB chief told reporters in Lahore.

It would be a first for UAE and first between Pakistan and West Indies if it comes through.

West Indies are scheduled to play two Tests, five one-dayers and two T20 internationals during their tour of UAE.

The venues have not been finalised as yet with Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi all having floodlit stadiums.

Pakistan will use this day-night Test in the UAE as a precursor for their tour of Australia where the first Test in Brisbane on December 15 to 19 will also be under lights.

Pakistan have a busy international schedule this year beginning with a tour of England where the first of four Tests will start at Lord's from July 14.

The series against West Indies will followed by two Tests in New Zealand (November) and three in Australia (December-January 2017).
